What a nice morning this was - warm with very little wind - and 37 people came out to do a 40km time trial. Eight of those rode faster than 40km/h, with one of those being a woman, Alison McKay, in her first time breaking the hour on this course, or any previous ABC 40km course. Congratulations, Allison. Note that Allison and Sue Schlatter are the only women to ride faster than 40km/h on this course so far, with Sue's earlier time of 58:26 done on a cooler and wetter but wind-free 2007-Jul-08 being 57 seconds faster. Overall, eleven people improved upon their previous best on this course, with Andrea McKay improving by almost 26%! Jordan Smith also improved substantially (by almost 20%), but he had some excellent sub-hour times back in 1994 on the old Almonte course which indicate that he is regaining the form of his youth. Darren Cope was the only other person to improve his previous best by more than 10%, and since this is only his third time trial, substantial improvements are still expected from him.
